Your host, Jess Kennedy, says “hey hey!” to the first official post of our blog.
today I’m going to give you a bit of a rundown of who we are, a bit about our life and the things we manage on a daily basis!
Why is this important?
- There is so much stigma and shame that people carry within themselves – we wanted to give a platform to people to discuss that
- We learned, really fast after saying we wanted to do this podcast that so many people had stories about themselves they were desperate to share
- We know our own experiences aren’t discussed openly – not just our lives with mental health, addiction & recovery – but particularly in the last 12 months we have had A LOT of really dumb things happen that have caused a huge ripple effect not only to each other, but to those around us.

Our next post will be about my favourite person, myself and my diagnoses with Bipolar type 1 affective disorder and all the things that go along with it – my diagnostic journey, how it is to live daily with the condition – some stories are funny, some are super sad, some are downright ridiculous. However, the stigma and misunderstanding of the condition is widely misunderstood and I want to try and crack that open into normal coversation.I will also be discussing what it’s like for a carer, my wife who is married to and somewhat caring for someone with bipolar because, like with most mental health issues that are life long – carers story is often not heard and if it is, it’s barely understood.
