Welcome to We Should Not Discuss That, a blog where we will absolutely discuss that – the things that we all know happen, but are never discussed.

Your host, Jess Kennedy, says “hey hey!” to the first official post of our blog.

today I’m going to give you a bit of a rundown of who we are, a bit about our life and the things we manage on a daily basis!

Why is this important?

  • There is so much stigma and shame that people carry within themselves – we wanted to give a platform to people to discuss that
  • We learned, really fast after saying we wanted to do this podcast that so many people had stories about themselves they were desperate to share
  • We know our own experiences aren’t discussed openly – not just our lives with mental health, addiction & recovery – but particularly in the last 12 months we have had A LOT of really dumb things happen that have caused a huge ripple effect not only to each other, but to those around us.

Our next post will be about my favourite person, myself and my diagnoses with Bipolar type 1 affective disorder and all the things that go along with it – my diagnostic journey, how it is to live daily with the condition – some stories are funny, some are super sad, some are downright ridiculous. However, the stigma and misunderstanding of the condition is widely misunderstood and I want to try and crack that open into normal coversation.I will also be discussing what it’s like for a carer, my wife who is married to and somewhat caring for someone with bipolar because, like with most mental health issues that are life long – carers story is often not heard and if it is, it’s barely understood.
